Patients with HIV infection and alcoholism are prone to have difficulty remembering and experience problems with coordination and attention.
When a person drinks heavily on a regular basis, their body becomes accustomed to alcohol and they may experience a number of withdrawal symptoms if the use of alcohol is discontinued; these symptoms can include: anxiety, trembling or shakiness, nausea and vomiting, insomnia, depression, irritability, fatigue, loss of appetite and headache.
Alcohol statistics show that approximately 53% of U.S. adults have articulated that one or more of their family members or close relatives engages in excessive and/or abusive drinking. Alcohol related statistics such as these go a long way in establishing the extensive nature of alcohol abuse and alcoholism in the United States.
Without help, most alcoholics cannot quit drinking.
