A new study says that alcohol advertising contributes to increased alcohol consumption among youth.
According to a study that was conducted by the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), increasing the difficulty in obtaining alcohol has been determined to reduce alcohol abuse but not in cases of long term alcoholism.
According to recent government studies, the rate of alcohol impairment among drivers involved in fatal crashes was four times higher at night than during the day.
In 1984, when federal law changed the drinking age to 21, more than half of fatal crashes among drivers aged 15 to 20 were alcohol related. By 1994, after the new law had been in effect, that number had dropped to 22 percent.
